Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) |
RSI is a term that refers to a number of conditions (such as Tendonitis and Carpal Tunnel syndrome) caused by performing repetitive tasks. Physical therapy for RSI may seem slow to some patients, but it is one of the most effective ways to counter the effects of RSI, and helps minimize the amount of pain medication that may be used. Another benefit to physical therapy treatment for RSI is that it teaches sufferers not only how to relieve their symptoms, but to prevent future occurrences of RSI, as well. We also treat Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD), which is a chronic, painful, and progressive neurological condition that affects the skin, muscles, joints, and bones. The syndrome usually develops in an injured limb, such as a broken leg, or following surgery, but many cases of RSD involve only a minor injury, such as a sprain. |
Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Disorder |
TMJ is the most fragile joint in the human body. TMJ Disorder is an umbrella term covering acute or chronic inflammation of the TMJ, which connects the mandible to the skull. The disorder and resultant dysfunction can result in significant pain and impairment. Physical therapy for TMJ can be very effective. With physical therapy the patient gets increased joint flexibility and muscle relaxation as well as pain alleviation. Patient will get rid of often severe headaches, noise in the ear and ear pain that may have originated from TMJ dysfunction. People who ever sustained a sharp fall, were involved in a car or work related accident should be aware of the high possibility to injure their jaw and need to be checked by a qualified professional. |

Vestibular Rehabilitation and Fall Prevention |
Forty percent of people over the age of 40 experience dizziness or balance problems at some point in their life. Vestibular disorders manifest in dizziness, vertigo, loss of balance and are a major risk factor for falls in elderly individuals which are a leading cause of serious injuries. In addition, vestibular disorders can lead to headaches, neckaches, muscle stiffness and general fatigue. Our therapists have specialized training in vestibular rehabilitation programs and understand the needs of patients suffering from such problems. After a thorough evaluation, our therapists will develop a customized rehabilitation program designed to decrease dizziness, increase balance function and increase general activity levels. |
